On the Nature of Secrets

They're important.

Everybody has at least one secret. They should have a secret, because the world of people simply can't make way for all truths. Such is the value of privacy. Privacy being something that is slowly getting destroyed.

But there are also secrets that you can create willfully, and not divulge to, yet long for, other people in your life or the planet to uncover them.

The best place for this is in secret parts of video games. No, not the places where you wonder what's there because you saw your in-game record that visibly says you've only completed 50% when you've already taken out a final-looking boss, this is about the secret places that you might never find out about, despite clearing everything that appears necessary to say you've completely explored a game.

Some of you may feel that the mention of such a secret goes way back to some place in a way most ominous. If you blow up some random yet unsettlingly-distinct asteroid in space, do you deserve to see such a frightening place, somewhere out of sight and out of dreams?

Sometimes, the creator of these levels in their games intends to make something not obvious to find and intends to make you feel creeped out.

It's called having fun.
